Heidi's Background
I grew up as kid who only wanted to be a comic strip artist--luckily I got that chance! In fact, I won the chance to have my comic, "Shaken, Not Stirred", syndicated via a magazine! It was already in 13 newspapers nationwide, but to be in this magazine it could only be in one paper and that one magazine! So, I pulled them out from everything, as agreed. Sadly, just prior to the first issue coming out, distribution was lost for the magazine!
I was a busy college student and it crushed me to think of having to start all over again. I stopped drawing-for over a decade. Silly, I know! But while still in college, darkness came into my life and I named it "Shadow People" I then wrote my first book about them "The Secret War." I was a broke student so I did a "poor man's copyright" and later officially registered my copyright in 2000. Some believe I wasn't actually the first to name the Shadow People...well I did indeed...though others may think otherwise...
Putting Word Out
Writing that book took me a mere 2 months, but it took 4 years to get it published! During that time, many established, paranormal/UFO authors who ALSO happened to be publishers, had my book manuscript with intentions to publish my book. What a waste of time that was, only to be told repeatedly things like, "There is no such thing as Shadow People®!" "That sounds like science fiction!" "There are NO negative aliens!" and "Who does this girl think she is?!"
As soon as I got the book published, I started doing radio interviews and traveling to conventions and conferences to share what I knew--nearly always out of my own pocket. I delayed my career as a therapist just to do as much as I could, to tell and warn the world of the impending doom coming when Shadow People® rear their ugly heads to the world!
I had NO idea, these things were already wreaking havoc on the lives of many around the globe. After my first appearance on Coast to Coast AM with George Noory, my emails were slammed with hundreds if not thousands of emails. I really don't know because back then, AOL email would continually delete your email as the box filled up if you didn't save it on time...I could not keep up and FULLY didn't expect that kind of reaction to know I had to be on top of email saving like that!
Well, the emails keep coming...'til this day! I got SO many I started answering them in a column called "Alien Advice" then later I made a segment in my radio show "The Outlander" and called it "The Outlandish Corner" so I could hopefully help even more people by sharing these emails openly.

Beat Goes On
With that amount of response, you would think conferences and conventions would be welcoming--right? Well, anything OUTSIDE of UFO or paranormal conferences were open to me. This still holds true to this day--for some reason. But I pushed my way into those events open to me and said my truth and the word spread! I found it harder to keep going on my own dime to these events but found I reached more people via radio--then luckily I was invited to co-host on various shows, which launched my solo shows like The Outlander.
In the meantime, I had people ask me to help them write books on Shadow People®, or filmmakers literally buy my book and right after say, "Thanks, I'm going to go make a movie now!" It's no wonder why people and even ghost hunters don't know the origin behind these topics.
After 18 years of putting word out there on these two topics in particular, it's been a LONG and rewarding journey to have helped bring light to some very dark beings to defeat them. I would have never thought this would be my legacy, but I proudly accept it and its challenges as I still embark on this Secret War and have resurrected my cartooning comic strips to keep a balance of humor in my life!
